Terry Lasenby who hasnt played table tennis for over a decade, continues to improve week in and week out in the latest round of Table Tennis at Kihikihi Table Tennis Club last night. Terry made it a clean sweep for his matches last night in the B Grade Division making his team win very easily with a 11-1 Match Score Line.
Terry who is now 59 years old, continues to show the younger generation of adults to not judge him by his age but by his results, Terry’s Singles Results were as follows:
T Lasenby Def J Krippner 9-11, 11-4, 11-6, Def H Barton 11-4, 12-10, Def A Tonihi 11-9, 11-8, He also won both his double matches, T Lasenby & W Nore Def A Tonihi & H Barton 11-2, 4-11, 11-8, T Lasenby & H Sunnex Def J Krippner & A Tonihi 11-7, 14-12
Some other interesting results happened last night as well. Our Top Female Player Waiata Nore who is only in her 2nd season of playing table tennis for a club, caused some major upsets last night in B Grade Division and just about made it a clean sweep, but was unlucky to win her final match of the night. Nore sporting a new professional Bat realised quickly the difference between a cheap bat from the local sports shop compared to a Custom Made Bat.
Nore playing at Number 3 in her team for the night, took care of A Tonihi 7-11, 11-5, 11-8, then with a major upset, beat the No.1 Seed in her division for the Night J Krippner in straight sets 11-8, 11-6, but unfortunately her luck ran out going down to the 3rd seed H Barton 14-12, 11-9.
Waiata completed her night and great form with wins in both of her doubles matches teaming up with T Lasenby Def A Tonihi & H Barton 11-2, 4-11, 11-8 & H Sunnex Def J Krippner & H Barton 11-4, 11-2.
Club President Hyrum Sunnex is excited about the club this season in it’s first season, with alot of local and community support in Te Awamutu & Kihikihi. We average 20-26 Players on our Monday Club Nights with already 75% of them fully registered and paid up members of the club. We want to continue to promote this sport to the local and wider community throughout Waipa for all levels of players, we can take up to 30 players a night and run a well structured competition.
Kihikihi Table Tennis Club will be starting their primary/intermediate/youth club sessions on Wednesday afternoon in Mid June, please refer to their website www.kihikihitabletennis.co.nz for more information and contact details.
